Rumor: 'Ant-Man' Might Cameo Past MCU Characters

'Ant-Man' LogoAnt-Man has gone through a lot since the departure of Edgar Wright, but most importantly is the linking to the current Cinematic Universe that Marvel has established. Word is that Marvel ordered rewrites because Edgar Wright’s version wasn’t ‘MCU connected’ enough. But with a new rumor floating around, Marvel may now have exactly what they wanted before.

Before I say anything more, let me just say that this could potentially be some significant spoilers for the movie, so you’ve been warned.

Latino Review first ran the story and they had this to say:

“In earlier drafts of the script, Hank Pym in the first act prologue has a meeting at S.H.I.E.L.D and meets up with Howard Stark, Peggy Carter, Armin Zola, and here is a cool one…a young Alexander Pierce.”

Dominic Cooper in 'Captain America: The First Avenger'Hmm, not that is some interesting stuff! Now obviously, ‘earlier drafts’ might mean a version of Edgar Wright or some of the handful of writers Marvel has brought in to get what they want since then. And Director Peyton Reed has definitely done some touching up of his own so take this all with a grain of salt for now.

With that said, it’s been said for a long time that the movie would open up with a Hank Pym (Michael Douglass) prologue, to summarize his story and his Ant-Man history. But then automatically linking the movie to the MCU without having to deal with the repercussions of the other films just sounds genius.

Haley Atwell in 'Agent Carter'This is definitely a buy for me and a buy that I believe in completely. It makes total sense and would actually be really, really cool if it’s done right. Then again, we won’t really know until a trailer or the movie is released so we’ll just have to keep wondering until then!

Do you like the sound of this idea? Would you want to see Dominic Cooper, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, and a young Alexander Pierce show up in Ant-Man? Comment below!

Ant-Man is currently in preproduction with a July 17th, 2015 release date. Directed by Peyton Reed starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglass, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña, Corey Stoll, Matt Gerald, and Kevin Weisman.
