Warner Bros./DC Just Announced Their Cinematic Universe!

'The New 52' Justice LeagueWith the rebooted Man of Steel 2 years ago, we all knew what was coming. It was a given that Warner Bros./DC had to get a move on with their own Cinematic Universe plans as Marvel was, well kicking their asses on the big screen. We’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for plans to be announced and we all expected it last month at SDCC, but didn’t get anything. Well they just changed the release date for Batman V Superman (good move), and only adding 9 more release dates with it.

Like I said, Warner Bros. and DC needed to get a move on with their Universe and luckily for us, they bombed the release date calendar with 9 movies for over the next 6 plus years. Let’s just get right to it, here they are…

  • Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – May 25th, 2016
  • Untitled DC Film – August 5th, 2016 (Shazam?)
  • Untitled DC Film – June 23rd, 2017 (Justice League?)
  • Untitled DC Film – November 17th, 2017 (The Sandman?)
  • Untitled DC Film – March 23rd, 2018 (Green Lantern/Flash Team-Up?)
  • Untitled DC Film – June 27th, 2018 (Man of Steel 2?)
  • Untitled DC Film – April 5th, 2019
  • Untitled DC Film – June 14th, 2019 (The Batman?)
  • Untitled DC Film – April 3rd, 2020
  • Untitled DC Film – June 19th, 2020

Now, I put those movies next to dates because back in June a leaked movie schedule for Warner Bros./DC Planned Universe showed up. And it is almost identical to what was released then, with a few more dates that is. I for one believe that these will the movies released on these dates. It fits perfectly with what Warner Bros./DC is planning and would get their Universe up and going pretty damn quickly. Of course, we will most likely be seeing every major character in the Justice League film in 2017, but this gives every character their own stand-alone movie at some point in time.

There are a few things that interest me. First, I love the idea of teaming up Green Lantern with Flash. Not only are they best friends in the comic book world, but it would be a great way to bring a new GL into the movie world after the disastrous 2011 movie. Two, we wouldn’t be seeing a solo Batman film until 2019. Possibly putting Ben Affleck’s Batman in his late 50’s, even early 60’s. For me it raises the question, what do they really have in store for this version of Batman? Lastly, where are the Wonder Woman and Aquaman standalone movies? They will both be introduced in BVS, but wouldn’t they get right on giving both a solo flick? I’m hoping they both come sooner rather than later.

Stay close for more on Warner Bros./DC and their universe, as I’m sure movies will be announced in the near future. For now, what are your thoughts on this schedule line-up and what looks to be DCU plan?
