Alright Paramount Pictures, it’s time to stop, collaborate, and listen because Vanilla Ice has a problem with your upcoming T.M.N.T. theme song titled Shell Shocked. The Ice Ice Baby rapper who’s responsible for the song Ninja Rap, featured in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze had some words about the upcoming reboot. Here’s what Mr. Ice had to say in an article with GQ Magazine.
“With respect to all of the artists, the song doesn’t really do it for me. It feels a little artificial—what I mean by that is that it sounds like a bunch of executives in the corporate world put it together. It really does not fit the theme of the Ninja Turtles legend. I think you have to understand, and be a true Ninja, to possess the Magic to really pull off the secret sound.”
Not sure how I feel about Vanilla’s comments. The Ninja Rap song worked for that time and is still very much loved by longtime fans. I was listening to Shell Shocked (which featured artists Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Kill the Noise, and Madsonik) on repeat earlier. The song, whether you like it or not, is very much a T.M.N.T. theme song that talks about brotherhood, family, and includes turtle references (“All this green in my pockets, you can call it Turtle Power”). If you ask me, I like the new theme song.
What do you think Movie Talkers, does this new theme song fit what you seen from the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot? Check it out and let us know what you think!
