Yeah, an Avengers/Guardians Crossover Is In Marvel's Plan!

The Avengers & Guardians of the GalaxyFor us who know the characters and properties, ever since Marvel first announced that they would be making a Guardians of the Galaxy, we got a bright look into their future plans. We knew that this new super-team full of misfits would eventually meet Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as they both inhabit the same universe and time. The only question was how and when that was in Marvel and Kevin Feige’s plan – we may finally have our answer.

With Guardians of the Galaxy opening this weekend and for those of us who have already seen it, it’s safe to say that a crossover is coming. I won’t go into detail for those who haven’t seen it yet, but this movie sets up something big for the MCU’s future.

Writer/Director of GOTG James Gunn, as well the stars of his movies, were all asked about this very idea and whether it could happen and how it could happen by Yahoo UK. Each of them have some pretty good and interesting answers and comments, but unfortunately I have not been able to grab the video yet (the link for the article is below). So here are some summaries of what Gunn and some of the stars had to say.

Marvel's Cinematic Universe

James Gunn said:

“We talked about all sorts of possibilities [for a crossover] and I kind of know what the basic plan is. That could or could not include a couple of Avengers and a couple of Guardians meeting up, or all of the Avengers and all of the Guardians. But, we do inhabit the same universe and they’re pretty big personalities that are likely to, at some point or another, run into each other.”

Vin Diesel:

“Marvel will have a lot of options after this movie and one of those options will be integrating teams. I think there’s going to be huge fans of the Guardians and there are huge fans of the Avengers and I think the discussion has already been had. I think the audience may demand something like that.”

Chris Pratt added:

“If you go from five characters and you add another five characters, that’s ten characters. That can be very difficult. That being said, Marvel knows their stuff. Knows there business. And I see this, rather than taking the worlds that already exist and putting them together, this opens up doors into brand new worlds. We take characters we didn’t even know existed in the four corners of the universe and we see their stories.”

Here are links to videos from both Yahoo UK and IGN, which in both interviews Gunn and his actors talk about the idea and how they would all like to see it.

There will be a much more clear idea of this ‘basic plan’ that Gunn is talking about once we get to see The Avengers: Age of Ultron next summer. And of course, the fact that Thanos is aware of both the Avengers and the Guardians will play a big part in a possible crossover. When and how do you think we will see an Avengers/Guardians crossover?
