The last Adam Sandler movie that I enjoyed was the 2009 comedy Funny People. Since then, Sandler has had more misses than hits with me. That could change (and I hope it does) with his next film Pixels. Directed by Chris Columbus, Pixels is the story of a small group of 80’s arcade champions who (decades later) are called upon to help defend earth from alien invaders, who misinterpret our classic arcade games as a declaration of war. They call themselves The Aracaders.
The new logo above for Pixels has been released by Sony Pictures at the San Diego Comic Con. It’s only a teaser logo that reveals nothing about the film, but I do like the design of the title. Sony has also revealed that Pixels will feature a collection of popular video game characters. Those characters are Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Centipede, Galaga, Frogger, Q*bert, and Space Invaders. So far these are two positive updates for a comedy/adventure film with a fun plot (that’s based off a hugely succesful short film), starring a few actors that make me nervous. Come on Sandler, even after your recent stinkers I’m still pulling for you to deliver. Here’s your chance man!
Pixels is based off the successful same titled short film. The film stars Adam Sandler, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Monoghan, and Kevin James…. as the President of the United States (see what I mean?).
Pixels invades theaters on May 15, 2015
