Vin Diesel will return as xXx… eventually.

Yes, I said eventually because it has been 12 years since actor “Vin Diesel” took down Anarchy 99′ in the first xXx film. Since then, we have gotten a sequel subtitled “State of the Union” that starred rapper “Ice Cube”. After that I lost interest in wanting to see another xXx film, unless it starred Diesel in the main role.

It wasn’t till 2010 when an update was given that hinted Diesel and Director “Rob Cohen” (xXx) will return to the franchise. The plan was to do a xXx film in 3-D subtitled “The Return of Xander Cage“. Thank god that never happened. Just that subtitle alone is terrible. Then in 2012, there was another update that basically said Diesel may do the third xXx film after finishing “Fast and Furious 6”. Now, two years later, the action star gives another update that hints the film is making progress and will come to light…eventually.

In an interview promoting “Guardians of the Galaxy“, Xander Cage (Diesel) talked about the long awaiting sequel. He stated that filming will take place in the Philippines which he is (I quote) very, very, very excited about. Unfortunately, it won’t happen till after Diesel is finished filming not one, but two films. Those films will be “The Last Witch Hunter” (which will also star “Michael Caine“) and “Kojak“.

What this tells me is that xXx will happen, however the script isn’t finished yet. The fact that Diesel is able to reveal where filming takes place means there has been progress. As for other cast members, I have no reason to believe “Samuel L. Jackson” won’t return to the franchise. The veteran actor never stops working. No update on the film’s plot yet except this logline released a few years ago:

“Xander Cage is left for dead after an incident, though he secretly returns to action for a new, tough assignment with his handler Augustus Gibbons.”
