Yesterday was a big day for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy – we saw a few good new images put online, the 17-minute preview in IMAX theaters across the country happened, and possibly one of the greatest trailers you will ever see was released. How can the marketing get any better? Well it might not have gotten better, but it just stayed on a level playing field thanks to Marvel.

The images show an array of characters, locations, and behind the scene shots from James Gunn’s upcoming Marvel blockbuster. Including the Guardian team members, but also giving us better looks at the villains and the more interesting characters involved in this universe. Ronan the Accuser played by Lee Pace, Nebula played by Karen Gillan, Rhomman Dey played by John C. Reilly, Nova Prime Rael played by Glenn Close, and our first look at Michael Rooker playing Yondu – the leader of the Ravagers.

Guardians of the Galaxy will open in theaters on August 1st, 2014. Directed by James Gunn starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Benicio del Toro, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Nathan Fillion, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, and Josh Brolin.
