Over her career, Scarlett Johansson has does a number of diverse roles in many, many movies – Lost in Translation, The Prestige, and of course her role as Black Widow in the Marvel Universe. There was a time where she kind of stepped back and what looks like she glanced at her career and really decided what she wanted to do, then kicked off a number of years with fantastic films and continuing that trend again with another movie outside of Marvel, Lucy.
Lucy is about a young woman (Johansson) who is mistakenly in the middle of a dark deal. Who then flips the sides on those who captured her while becoming a superhuman evolving past any human logic we ever imagined.
The first trailer excited me beyond what I thought I could for this film. I’m a huge fan of Johansson, basically because she is one of the most badass female superheroes. Now that we are seeing her step into roles we knew she could do years ago, it seems to be paying off. This just adds to the amazing resume she has already stacked up, on top of (what looks like) her becoming the next big female action star.
Lucy comes out on July 25th, 2014. Directed by Luc Besson and starring Scarlett Johansson, Morgan Freeman, and Analeigh Tipton.
