In the current Marvel Cinematic Universe, I recall hearing The Hulk speak only twice. The first was 2008’s ‘The Incredible Hulk’ when the beast did his signature HULK SMASH move in his fight against The Abomination. The voice work was done by Lou Ferrigno, star of the late 70’s/early 80’s TV series ‘The Incredible Hulk’. The second time was in 2012’s ‘The Avengers’ when The Hulk manhandled Loki, who was in the middle of declaring himself a god and above every one else. Hulk answered with a beat down and proceeded with calling Loki a “Puny God”. That voice was also provided by Lou Ferrigno. Both moments were fun and really incredible (pun) to watch. They say there was also a part in the 2003 Ang Lee’s ‘Hulk’ where the green monster spoke but, I don’t consider that abomination (pun again) of a film .

In addition to the voice work he provided in the films mentioned above, Lou Ferrigno has confirmed he will be lending his voice for The Hulk in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’. Director Joss Whedon said The Hulk will have a bigger part in the film. Not sure what that will mean as far as hearing more of the Hulk speak. I’m sure a couple more phrases from the BIG GUY won’t hurt.

This is a really cool of Marvel to honor fans of the Hulk TV show and the original Hulk himself.

I recall watching ’08’s ‘The Incredible Hulk’ and seeing Lou Ferrigno’s cameo in the college campus scene. When he shook Edward Norton’s hand and told him “god bless you brother”, for me it felt like Ferrigno was wishing Norton the best. As the torch of the Hulk character was being passed on. Although he probably meant thanks for the pizza. Of course, that was back when I assumed Edward Norton would be Bruce Banner for years to come. Still a little upset about that but, Mark Ruffalo is great too.

Hulk Avengers

I believe we will soon get a Hulk standalone film. Marvel has a habit for surprising us all with the unexpected. Mark Ruffalo can carry a movie and there are plenty of unused villains for The Hulk character, including The Abomination.
